Numb(POEM)

I believed in every word that you said.

Every syllable,

Every letter went straight to my head.

To my soul.

To my heart.

It was laced with lies.

Hidden behind sweet kisses,

Long goodbyes.

It left no visible trace.

Like strychnine on lace.

When eyes met.

(not mine)

When hands touched.

(not mine)

When lips collided.

(NOT MINE)

What could I do?

What could I say?

Could not move.

Didn’t want to stay.

She moaned.

You pressed.

My heart squeezing,

Inside my chest.

Move

Move

Getaway

Nothing here to do.

Nothing worth to say.

Numb.

I Came Home Early

A Twinge

A flash of a thought

A light touch

Should I turn the key?

Push the door

Walk in

Quiet

Till it’s not

Compulsion drives

Wet sounds

A creaking from an old bed

There they are.

Oblivious

Entranced

Driven

Speed increases

Anger and numbness created by the crescendo

One flash of color enters the scene.

RED!

(Why do we doubt our intuition? It’s given to us for a reason.)
