Wolf (Flash Fiction)

Wolf

There is a sweet scent in the air. In a moment I will get what my body is craving.

Victim

Why do I feel like somebody is watching me? The minute I left my building. I didn’t feel right. It was a full moon. I felt like this could be my last night. Stupid right? Why would this night like any other night be my last night?

I left the building and made it to the corner when I felt it. Not sure exactly what I felt but all the hair on my body stood, and my heart was pounding as if I was running track in high school. Something is not right.

Wolf

I waited and stalked. The silly girl went through the park. Has no one ever told her never to walk in the park alone at night?

Victim

I was halfway through the park when I heard the rustling. I should run.

Wolf

Yes, run, I like my meat, tenderized. I like the blood pumping freshly through the veins. Run!

Victim

I ran into the forest. It’s not a forest, it’s a park, but it seems like a forest because I can’t get out of it.

Wolf

She fell. It’s time. I can hear her heart pounding and her whimpers of distress.

Victim

I made it to the trees —

Wolf

The bite was perfect. The sweet metallic blood was dripping down my throat. My claws ripped through the fabric into soft flesh. She had no time to scream and that’s how I like it. I did not want her to die without seeing who her killer truly was. Before her heart stopped beating and I ate it, I decided to transform into my human form.

“Yes, it’s me. Charlene”

Victim

“Amanda, why?”

Wolf

“Hunger.”
