The call of the Dhampir chpt 8

The smell of blood swirled around the dead as if it was like freshly baked cake. The mansion was buzzing about the smell. No one could pin point where the smell was coming from. Which was a miraculous feet since they had a high sence of smell.

The prince had left that morning and there was no one to keep Abella in check. Abella walked down the stairs dressed in lace and satin dress. The color seemed to be a green but the amount of blood that was soaked on the dress it was almost impossible to distinguis the true color.

“Listen to me all of you. I know that the prince has his spies watching me. I have personally dispatched a couple that I know of. If I find out who else is giving him information about my coming and goings I will gladly add your blood to this dress. Have I made myself clear?”

Not a peep was heard. The others stood watching her with bared fangs and anger in their eyes. In the shadows Mimi hid. She will get a message out to him once the sun rose. Until then she’ll keep to the shadows.

“Wakey, wakey” Adorjan heard before a cold splash of sea water drench him. He sat up with a start.

The girl that was up in the tree was standing before him laughing.

“Was that really that funny? How did you get here?”

“Oh you hit me with two questions at once. Let’s see. It was hilarious, you look like a wet cat. Second question, I came over with my father. Now answer my questions. Why are you sleeping here on the boat and are you hungry?”

Adorjan got up and shook off the water that was still dripping from him before he answered her.

“I am waiting for the twins to come back and I fell asleep. I am a bit hungry. Why do you have some food you could give me?”

She smiled and climed down from the boat and started walking towards the houses. “Are you coming or not?”

Adorjan smiled and climbed down from the boat, then followed her. He did not realize how close in hieght she was to him, since the last time he seen her she was laying down in a tree. They walked for about five minutes before they stopped in front of a house.

“Before we go in I think it would be wise that we should know each other’s names. I’m Creya and you are?”

“Adorjan”

“Adorjan is nice, but since I am welcoming you inside I think I will call you Jan.”

She seem very determined that she had to give him a name as if she was christening a ship. He kept his laughter inside until later. He gave her a nod that he accepted the shortened name.

“Okay let’s go in.”

The house was brimming with people of all shapes and sizes. Not to mention color. A woman no taller than Adorjan’s knee passed in front of him and he could swear he smelled a hint of stale water.

“That is Oria. She is a swamp pixie.”

“Oh” He looked around the room and basically everyone looked normal to the naked eye.

“Come with me. Your probably really hungry. We have food in the kitchen.”

“What’s going on? Why is there so many people here tonight?”

Creya laughed at his comment and he could not understand what was so comical.

They walked into the kitchen and a woman with red curly hair down her back was covered in flour.

“Ah, Creya you finally brought the Dhampir. Come in, come in and eat.”

Adorjan felt slightly trapped with the two women in the kitchen.

“Sit and eat. Or is this not what you favor? Do you take after your father then?”

“Okay what is this about? I do not like feeling like I am a mouse in a maze.”

“Ah yes, you are quite the mouse. Oh my excuse me a moment, the bread will burn if I do not get it out of the oven.”

The red headed woman turned and took something that resembles bread out of the oven, but it was pulsating.

“Perfect. The marsh folk do not like their bread to be over done. Now let me introduce my self. I am Inakoraikatoo. You can call me Ina. I am what you call a neutral observer of all the species of this world. I take no sides and I answer questions that I deem is none intrusive on the path you are set upon.”

“An observer?”

“Sit, you are safe here. No violence is allowed in my presence ever. Would you like to see what happens if you try?” Ina handed a wicked looking blade she was using as a cutting knife.

Adorjan looked her square in the eyes and seen something roaming behind them. He refused the blade and turned to Creya.

“So what are you?”

Creya hoped on the kitchen sink and bit into a celery stalk. “that is answer that will be given, when it is necessary. Now sit and relax, Jan.”

He did as she asked since for some reason she seemed trust worthy. “Why did you bring me here?”

“To the point then. I have been watching you since your grandmother died. The vail she had over you and your mother had vanished when she passed. I was shown that you need a companion on your quest.”

“I have no quest and I do not need a companion.”

“Listen, Jan is it? Creya will accompany you on your path. Enough said.”

“I don’t know where I am going. So Creya accompanying me to nowhere is really ridiculous.”

“You do not know your path? How is that possible?”

The red headed woman looked genuinely confused.” Alright enough talking and more eating. Then tonight you will sleep in one of the rooms. Your safe here.”

“You keep saying that?”

“Well, Jan if you would wipe the suspicious look off your face then she wouldn’t have to keep repeating it.”

“Creya help me bring the bread out.” Creya knew the woman can lift a truck if she wanted with no help. Something was up.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

The beating of the bats wings gave no comfort to Makalo. Time was running out and Adorjan had to start piecing things together before his lack of knowledge kills him.

Makalo went towards to the east to see Sheri. One of the longest living vampire in the world. Makalo walked toward Sheri’s chamber to be greeted by Kara. The of the few weaknesses he allowed in his life.

“Kara what are you doing here?”

“Makalo do you not miss me?” As he watched the woman before him drop her shear gown revealing a body he came to know all to well. He still questioned her presence in Sheri’s chambers.

He deferred the question until a later time. His body burned from the memory of her body beneath him and her blood coursing through him.

“It can wait Kara.” He said as the door closed behind him.

So my fire starters Makalo has a side chick and what’s the deal with Ina? Why did she ask Creya to help her with the bread? And before I forget Abella’s claws are out, rather her teeth and death is in the air. Hmmm what will happen next? Comments and Likes are appreciated. Until next we meet. Fia xoxox

sea

The sun was shining but the rays were being its deceptive cohort. There was a chill on the sea as the men road the waves to the city.

“So Adorjan you have never been to the city and I feel it is my duty to give you some insightful tips on how to stay afloat.”

“Oh shut up Brinx. He is a grown man, he can handle himself.”

“Bijou you must help him learn the financial part as I teach him about the in’s and out’s. I will start.” Brinx said as he sat next to Adorjan.

“Once you hist dry land you will feel a wave come over you. Not a normal wave but a wave of greed, lust and any sin that comes to mind. The city is the playing ground for the ambitious businessmen. These people will know of your lack of experience. It’s like radar and they will try to exploit you. So you must school that innocent look on your face.”

Adorjan touched his face and he felt the shadow of a beard but he did not feel innocent.

“Your eye’s. Your eye’s show your innocents. You should try to scowl as much as you can and your size will help clear the path of miscreants.” Brinx said as he looked seriously into his eyes

“Since my brother insists that  I teach you to finance, I will give you advice that will help. Never tell anyone how much you have on your person. There are ears everywhere and those ears have empty pockets and a drive to fill them. There are dark alleys that I advise for you to stay out of. Ladies of the night tend to do business in those alleys. If you chose to venture there keep in mind that many of them are unclean and carry illnesses that are incurable.”

Adorjan looked at bijou with wonder on his face. His yaya told him many things but she had left out illnesses that can not be cured.

“Yes so you should keep that little man in your trousers. You get my drift?”

Adorjan nodded.

“If your looking for work go the factories. There should be something there you can do until you increase your personal income.”

The twins looked at each other and mirrored each other’s smile.

“Adorjan you never did tell us why you are venturing out into to the city,” Bijou asked as he stirred the boat.

Adorjan thought about telling these two men the truth but it seemed that they would not understand.

“I am searching for a cousin. Last I was told she lived in the city and I must come to visit her.”

That was the best he could do. He was actually going to see his yaya’s sister. He was told by his yaya that she was still living due to a deal she made long ago. She never told him who she made the deal with.

“Well then we will reach land in an hour and the wind has changed. So gents get to it or we will go off course.” Bejou said as he turned the wheel vigorously.

The City of Mali

The city was everything the twins had said it would be. After they said their good bye’s. Adorjarn walked into the palatable wave in search for Amorisa. His grand aunt. he pulled out a crushed paper from his trousers and looked at the address one more time.

He walked half the day before he came upon a house made of red brick but was covered with vines and soot. The house had a cast iron gate and a cobblestone pathway up to the front door.

Adorjan opened the gate and there was no sound. Normally all gates made a sound even wooden ones. He shrugged it off as it is well maintained. Odd since the rest of the front wasn’t. He walked up to the door and it opened with a young child standing before him.

“Come in Adorjan. She has waited a long time to meet you.” The child said. but on closer inspection, it was not a child at all. What was she?

Adorjan followed her in and noticed the air felt a bit stifling.

“Please sit. She will be right out.”

He did as she said as his eyes took in and categorized what he was seeing.

“Adorjan, you finally made it.”

“A voice that he had not heard in ten years said behind him.” He stood and his heart hurt from stopping.

“I know I look like my sister Celestie. I am her older sister. Have a seat before you fall Adorjan.”

He did as she requested and began to breathe again as his lungs demanded.

“So before I tell you what my sister could not, why don’t we have a drink. What would you like?”

“Water would be fine.”

She looked at him with her head cocked to the side.”Fine I will have wine.”

The glasses appeared with the liquid. Amorisa raised her glass for a toast. So Adorjan did the same. The clink of the glass echoed through the house. After Amorise took a sip she sat in a resting chair before him.

“Let’s get to it shall we. Your father is………”

Adorjan interrupted her before she could say it. “He is a vampire. I know.”

“Well, that is good. He is the prince of vampires. His name is Makalo. He sired you with your mother.”

“He is a prince?”

“Let me tell it without interruption.” She took another sip.

“Your father fell in love with Nikila. But he was betrothed to her sister Abella. A terrible accident happened and Nikila had died. Makalo married Abello as arranged but he hated her with all his being. He locked himself away for years looking up ancient texts to see how his life would have some meaning to it.

Then he found that he could sire children without biting their mothers. The only thing is that the woman had to have the carrier gene. He left the tomb and went to Abella. He mated with her for a month yet no child was conceived.

He went out and found a female pureblood vampire sadduced her and she got with child. Once Abella heard about this, she killed the woman at once and took the child that was born and raised it as her own.

Again Makalo went out of the marriage and found my niece. She was so beautiful yet so sad that he granted her a wish of one night with him. He did not know she would be a carrier. Once she found out she was with child she ran to my sister and raised you there in the woods.

To protect you I visited once as my sister asked and we cast a powerful spell to hide the three of you until you were a man. Once you became of age the spell broke and Abella felt your presence. She will be out to kill you.”

This was allotted to take in.”Wait you said a spell. What are you?”

“We are the last line of Szoba gypsy’s.”

“Gypsy?”

“Yes this is a lot to take in, but I have to tell you the rest. You are a Dhampir and you are going to go through the culling. Once you go through this you will be the first to create a species of the two. Abella believes your an abomination but your father knows otherwise.”

“The culling?”

“You are going to be lead to your mate. Once the union is consumated the world as we know it will forever be changed.”

“I do not want to be a creator. I did not ask for this.”

“We are all not asked if we want to live or die. It is chosen. Enough talking as you stay in my home you are protected. No one will know where you are.”

“I have a half-sister.”

“Yes, she has been kept away from others. Abella did not want her to learn of her true mother.”

“She sounds horrible.”

“I guess. When a woman or man loves another so deeply and can never receive that love in return it can turn a person mad.” She sipped her wine again.” Your room is upstairs to the right. Rest and we shall talk again after you process what I have told you.”

Adorjan did as she said and went to get some rest. Yet something his yaya told him.

“Stay, but do not stay longer than the night.”

“Why could he not stay at night?

So fire starters what is the deal with the night? What deal did she make? Oh man he’s half gypsy. The story continues. If you like please star it and comment all is welcome.

Not every night has clear skies and a bright moon. No, not every night, especially not tonight.

Adorjan had waken to complete darkness. The wooded creatures were very vocal and their was not odd feeling that something was a miss as he slept. He decided that he should make his way to the shore that night. It was just a few hours away and he knew he had to cross the water’s to get to his destination.

The little water town of Atal was celebrating the big catch the ships had brought in. There was music and dancing where ever you turned. Adorjan made his way to one of the boats that was docked and noticed a young man tieing the boat to a large tree pole.

“Excuse me, can you tell me if I can purchase a ride across the sea.”

The young man laughed and did not bother to turn around. “Why go across the sea? Tonight is the night to be frivolous and be at ease.”

“I can see that and I am willing to wait until the morning.”

The young man turned around and he held a smile on his face that could convince any young woman of innocence as he proceed to convince them to do anything but innocent things.

“I have not seen you in Atal before. Are you visiting family or did you make a mistake and listen to those old drunkards and they convinced you to come and make your fortune on the sea?”

Adorjan could not help but smile at the young man asking him questions.

“Since you seem so interested. I lived off the town of Newer Town and I have decided to make a life for myself across the sea. Now can you direct me to the captain of the boat so I can purchase a ride?”

“I tell you what. Tonight there is no moon in the sky and no self-respecting sailor will go out on such a night. Since you say you will wait until morning you might as well wait with me.”

“But you still have not given me the name of the captain of the boat.”

“I did not. My name is Binx Jewel and this is my boat. You may come across another young man who looks similar to me his name is Bijoux. He is my younger brother by just a hair or two. As for the fee, I will mull it over as the night goes on. What say you?”

Adojan was not eager to mingle with people. His fear of being found out was bothering him greatly but he had to learn to fit in if he was going across to sea.

“That sounds good.”

“I fail to get your name?”

“So sorry, My name is Adorjan Szabo.”

“Alright , now lets eat, drink and see what the night unfolds.”

Brinx slapped Adorjan on the back and lead him into the town.

=========================================================================

The night had stretched into the morning. One by one the people of the town Atal went into their homes for the rest of the night.

Brinx went off with a red-headed young woman over hour ago and Adorjan decided to sit under an old tree, a little away from everyone and get some rest.

“Is there something wrong with you?”

Adorjan stood up quickly to see were the voice was coming from.

“Come out, do not hide.” He said out loud.

“Who said I am hiding? You just have not seen me as yet. Look up into the tree you were about to sleep under.”

There was a young woman laying on a branch. Her face was hidden by the darkness.

“Why are you up in the tree? Why are you not at home for the night?”

“The world is my home and this branch as long as it holds is my bed. What is your reason ,why are you not in for the night? Is there something wrong with you?”

“No there is not. Why do you ask?”

“Every young man has found a young woman to bed for the night. Yet you sleep alone under the stars.”

“Well since your up in the tree were I am about to sleep under. Who said I am alone.?”

“Quick wit.” She said as it sounded as if she was smiling, since he could not see her face.

“I’m Adorjan and your name is?”

“Creya. Well goodnight bed fellow.”

“Goodnight Creya.”

The dawn came quick but not quick enough for Adorjan he was ready to cross the sea. He heard when the young woman climbed down and ran off towards one of the homes. He pretended to be asleep since she did not want to be seen.

He walked up to the boat Brinx had tied up and seen him walking around it looking at all the ropes that tied the long sheet to the pole.

“Good morning Brinx. I see that the red-head did not keep longer than the night.

Brinx looked at him as if he had two heads.

“So you met Brinx?”

“My apologies. You must be Bijoux. I had purchased a ride across the sea from your brother.”

“I see and how much did he charge?”

“He did not name the price as yet. Can you tell me how much it would be?”

“Ten pence.”

“Ten seems a bit steep, but here you are.”

Out of nowhere a voice said,” Keep your money. We are going to the city anyway. Just help when we need it and that will pay for your trip.”

Brinx climbed aboard and walked pass his brother.

“Brinx, that is why we make next to nothing. We need to charge.”

“Bijou he has next to nothing to his name.If we do good then good things will come back to us.,”

Adorjan could not tell them apart visually but their personalities shown their true colors. Either way he had his ride and his quest was on its way.

In the shadow of the tree he slept under, the young woman who slept on the branch kept watch. She was to report to the prince of his son’s were abuts. She was not a vampire or slave.

She did what she was asked because a promise she had given to the prince a very long time ago and she always keeps a promise.

==========================================================================

Makalo received word that Adorjan had booked passage to the city. He could not help him or the rest of the vampire nests will see it as a weakness. But he will keep track of his progress.

He had to be the chosen. He had to live.

So my fire starters Adorjan is on the move across the sea. What is he chosen to be? Isn’t he an abomination? If you like it so far hit like and tell a friend. It’s a great compliment.

The call of the Dhampir

Chapter One

Not so long ago, my kind was feared by not only humans but the very creatures that we steam from. Vampire or the living immortals. Normally you would hear that we hide in the shadows and kill indiscriminately.

That is not who we are. We are the off spring of the blessed mortals that walk in the sun and the damned beast that roam the night. We are in that grey area that no one dare speak of. We kill when their is a need for it. Lately the need had somewhat diminished.

Our appetites are as complex as our make up. Yes we can drink blood to survive but is it necessary no. We eat and digest food just as our mortal half requires.

Before I go into why I am writing all of this. I must tell you that I fear that my life will end before I will end this account of our existence.

I will start with my name. I am called Adorjan Szabo. My mother was the daughter of the Hungarian tailor to the Czar. My father was a high immortal vampire that fell in love with the pure innocents of a young woman.

My mother stood all of 1.49 meters tall (59in). I remember she had thick brown hair, heighted by the sun, leaving a golden hue. That was not the most remarkable thing about her. What drew you in was her eye. You read correct. Her eye drew you to her. She was born with only one eye, framed with lush lashes that naturally emphasized the deep green of her iris.

My sire which I prefer to call him was tall framed. Strong looking jaw that housed lips that was so full and supple that it made you wonder if he was meant to be female. His hair was dark like on a full moon and if I remembered correctly he smelled of sweet honey suckle.

I was created on the night of Maborn, to those who do not know that would be September. I was told that it was a mutual mating and the thought of love did cross their minds once or twice, but it was fleeting. My sire took what he wanted and granted a wish that she bargain for, but before the bargain was consummated he fed from her.

Even though she was a beauty, having that one eye had put off many suitors and she felt alone. She told me when I was of age that she asked my sire to take her innocents, so she would feel what other women felt even if it was once in her life time.

He agreed to the bargain but he did not realize that she was a carrier. She was of the ancient line of mortal female that was able to carry an offspring of a vampire to term and create a Dhampir.

When my mother realized she was with child she ran off into the woods toward my grand yaya’s home. Yaya loved and cared for my mother until the day of my birth. That was the day things changed. Yaya realized I was the offspring of the undying. She wanted to spare my mother heart ache and kill me at birth but my mother pleaded for my life.

“Angyal, you will not have an easy life with the gyermek (child). He will never be part of either of our worlds why do this?” Yaya asked

My mother looked at me and said that she will have someone to love for ever. the forever lasted until her ninetieth birthday. I buried her next to Yaya in the woods on the day of my birth. As I said my good bye’s , that is when I seen it.

An image of a place that I must go. My yaya told me that some immortals have the gift of seeing images. Some may be present or the future. I believe it was a place I must travel to in the present. I packed what little I had and left my home in the woods.

Little did I know that my very existence was being observed. In the shadows I was being followed. At the time I did not notice but the time was drawing near to the “culling”. A change that all Dhampir’s go through when they reach the age of maturity.

The tracker was set upon me by Abella a name that you will get familiar to as my story unfolds. I walked through the woods avoiding the small towns as best as I could. I had learned to hide my teeth but there were times that they would hurt when a young woman would approach.

The sweet smell that came off them seemed to be amplified. My yaya told me about the acts between a  men and a women and even though I was not allowed to be near them it was not without effort to quench my desires.

One night I could hear my mother and my grandmother contemplating on paying one of the young maidens to bed me in hopes that would help. But I did not want that, so I told them very sternly that I did not want a… whore. They both turned flushed that I over heard what they had planned but conceded not go through with it.

that was over eight years ago and I do not regret my decision. What if I hurt a mortal being engulfed in lust or what if I get killed being discover by an immortal female? I will wait until I find my own kind. If any other’s were out there.

Hello my firestarters so I am starting a new story on, Dhampir’s. I hope you enjoy where this tale may lead you. Comments and likes are welcomed. Until next excerpt.
